Acne & Acne Scar Treatment

Acne can mark much more than just your skin. Our treatment look at a complete solution by removing the root cause of the acne and eradicating all those acne scars.

Of all the skin conditions that could show up in our lives, few are as persistent as acne. It is commonly understood as a teenage problem, but recurs as late-onset acne that comes on after the age of 25. And that’s not all. As many as half of all adult women experience some form of acne due to hormonal changes during perimenopause.

There’s a visible difference between teenage and adult acne. Teenage spots are most common on the oily T-zone (forehead, nose, chin and area circling the mouth). Adult-onset acne is usually seen on the cheeks, chin, jawline and neck, called the U-zone. It tends to be inflammatory, so while it may show up at fewer spots than teenage acne, adult acne occurs as hard, stubborn nodules, and takes longer to resolve.

Acne can have a devastating effect on self-esteem and confidence, driving many sufferers to withdraw socially. What makes it even more painful are the physical and emotional scars left behind. However, the good news is that we can treat most acne, and acne scars as well, with best results.

What causes Acne?

It all begins in the skin’s oil glands. The oils travel up a canal called a follicle (which also contains a hair) and empty onto the skin surface through the follicle’s opening, or pore.
The hair, oil and cells that line the narrow follicle can form a plug that blocks the pore, preventing oil from reaching the skin’s surface. This mix of oil and cells allows bacteria that normally live on the skin to grow in plugged follicles. The body’s defence system then moves to attack the bacteria and the area gets inflamed.

If the plug or blockage stays beneath the skin, it creates a white bump called a whitehead. If it reaches the surface of the skin and opens up, you get a blackhead. Both whiteheads and blackheads may stay in the skin for a long time. Eventually, the wall of the plugged follicle can break down, leading to pimples, or zits.

A key factor in acne is an increase in certain hormones during puberty. These hormones cause the oil glands to enlarge and produce more oil. Hormone changes related to pregnancy, the premenstrual phase, or stress – especially when internalised – can also cause acne.

What causes Acne Scars?

Once a lesion heals, it can leave behind a pigmented mark on the skin. This is because every pimple results in loss or formation of tissues in the healing process. The loss of tissue results in milder scars, while formation of new, thicker tissue can result in more severe spots.

How Kaya Acne & Acne Scar Solutions work

Acne treatment is as much about techniques and treatments as it is about understanding an individual’s skin. At Kaya clinic, we have gathered a wealth of insight into how skin works. Applying this knowledge, the region’s largest team of dermatologists works to create specialised approaches, customised to every individual’s skin. We bring together medication with advanced formulations and technologies to deliver a truly effective line of treatment to get rid of acne. Do take a closer look with the help of the search box below.

Broadly, Kaya Acne Treatment Solutions aim to address the root causes of acne and deal with the factors that provoke skin into developing acne. The approach is to reduce excess oil (sebum) production, exfoliate skin to prevent clogging of pores, and provide anti-inflammatory measures to reduce the severity of acne. Hormonal medication may be prescribed if absolutely necessary.

Kaya Acne Scar Repair solution focuses on removal of existing lesions and scars while preventing the formation of new ones. It involves exfoliation, to help removal of dead skin cells, pollution deposits and damaged skin, which aids in scar reduction, and in a thorough cleansing of the skin surface. Exfoliation is followed by laser treatment which penetrates the skin and remodels the scars to achieve the goal of flawless, beautiful skin.

What you can look forward to

Acne can be a stubborn foe, and the fight calls for commitment. The number of sessions may vary, depending upon the extent of your acne and the specific treatment approach prescribed for you. As the sessions work steadily, you’ll soon see a noticeable difference in the condition and texture of your skin. It will look cleaner and brighter, while acne lesions and scars will reduce dramatically.

Aftercare is equally important. As acne is caused by hormonal changes, you need to be committed to staying the course and making sure you follow a regular maintenance regime for best results.

FAQs

Why do I suddenly have acne?

The reason for you to get acne are various – diet, hormones, products with ingredients that don’t suit your skin type. However, you need to consult a dermatologist to get to the root of the cause.

How much does it cost for acne treatment?

Depending on the consultation with the Doctor, a customised plan will be drawn for you based on your skin needs. The cost will depend on the services mentioned in your plan.

Are acne and pimples same?

Pimples can form when your skin makes too much oil. Pores get clogged with this excess build-up of oil and dead skin cells, which allows bacteria to breed, causing redness and swelling. Frequent breakouts with lots of pus-filled pimples are acne and unlike isolated pimples, Acne is a long term condition.
