Sagging skin and cellulite are two key challenges in the quest for body perfection. While both are natural phenomena, they can be effectively reduced with the application of various technologies – most prominently, Radiofrequency (RF) and pulsed electromagnetic fields (PEMF). To see how they work, let’s begin with a quick understanding of cellulite and skin sag.
Youthful skin is rich in collagen. Collagen provides the support structure, rendering elasticity, suppleness and smoothness. With time, the body’s ability to produce collagen reduces, and skin tends to sag as it loses its inherent resilience.
Cellulite is subcutaneous fat (normal fat beneath the skin), which starts pushing against fibrous connective tissue as it builds up for various reasons. This pressure causes the skin above to pucker and develop a bumpy, dimpled appearance, also dubbed ‘orange peel skin’. Apart from compromising skin texture and appearance, cellulite adds to circumference and hides muscle contour. That’s why fat loss is an integral part of any body contouring regimen, even though an individual may have a perfectly normal BMI (body mass index).
There’s a catch with weight or fat loss. It can leave behind loose skin flaps and folds which apart from being unsightly, add inches to the area, and do no justice to the newly forming contours.
After evaluating various technology platforms and devices, our dermatologists at Kaya have selected Venus Legacy as their ideal choice for efficacy and safety. It uses patented technology to boost collagen production and break down fat cells which store fat in undesirable areas. The restored collagen production tightens sagging skin. The fat reduction smoothens out the cellulite. And together they lift the skin and make it look more toned.
Venus Legacy helps deliver a non-surgical treatment. It is useful for post-pregnancy or post bariatric surgery tummy and abdomen tightening, buttock lifts, contouring stubborn fat pockets to reduce upper arm bulge, and circumference reduction on the legs. In fact, it is a technology of choice for body contouring, cellulite reduction, stretch mark improvement, jawline contouring and double chin reduction as well as skin tightening for the entire body.

The FDA approved Venus Legacy with its 4D Body Applicator combines two key technologies: multi-dimensional radio frequency (RF), pulsed electromagnetic fields (PEMF) and VariPulse Technology. Using them in combination, Venus Legacy produces uniform heat below the surface of the skin, without hurting the upper epidermal layer, to stimulate the body’s natural healing response. This, in turn, restores collagen production, rejuvenates existing collagen, and breaks down the fat cells in the treated area.
The system uses Real Time Feedback to deliver pain-free treatments with no downtime and is safe and suitable for all skin tones.
Each area of the body requires a different approach. That’s why the multi-dimensional combination of RF and PEMF operates at adjustable frequencies to target specific treatment areas from multiple directions. What makes Venus Legacy particularly efficient is its array of 12 electrodes on the body applicator, combined with the large spot size and the VariPulse feature which allows for deep penetration.
As part of the process, the advanced VariPulse technology mimicks a mild massage by dispensing adjustable pulsed negative and positive suction pressure on the skin. This movement allows the radiofrequency energy to penetrate even deeper into the skin, stimulating blood circulation and lymphatic drainage – in addition to lipolysis (fat cell breakdown), collagen restoration and tissue stabilisation.
Apart from mild discomfort, for just a few moments while the target thermal temperature is being reached, this treatment is generally painless. There could be mild swelling, redness and tingling for around an hour after the treatment, but there is no downtime and no restriction in activities after the treatment.
Continuing improvement is visible for up to three months and needs to be supported with a healthy diet and normal exercise plan. For optimal, long term results, a series of 8-12 sittings is required.
Depending on your area of concern, and the contouring needed, your dermatologist will recommend Venus in combination with several other technologies and treatments to deliver the optimum results. This would be part of a holistic approach that includes dietary advice.
- Be well hydrated when you go for the treatment sitting
- Do not shave in the treatment areas on the day of the treatment
- From 4 weeks prior to the treatment, avoid waxing, laser treatments, dermal fillers and Botox® injections in the treatment areas
- Use a sunscreen with SPF 30+
- Do try and stay active for a couple of hours after the session. Even mild movement will do. Physical activity can speed up the breaking down of fat cells and keep them from getting reabsorbed by the body.
Where on the body can Venus LegacyTM be used?
Venus LegacyTM treatments can be used anywhere on the face and body . It is an effective yet safe way to smooth wrinkles, tighten loose skin, reduce cellulite and deal with fat circumferentially.

No. The Venus LegacyTM treatment is gentle, non-invasive and painless. Discomfort during treatment is minimal as the skin therapist will apply a treatment gel that helps the applicator glide on the surface of your skin. Movements are smooth and consistent. Most customers report the treatment as relaxing, very comfortable and similar in sensation to a hot stone massage.
Is there any discomfort after treatment?
After treatment, the area will feel warm and there may be a slight pinkness to the skin. The warmth and pinkness will not last longer than an hour. There could be mild swelling, redness and tingling for around an hour after the treatment, but there is no downtime and no restriction in activities after the treatment.
What results could I observe immediately after treatment?
When collagen fibers in the skin are exposed to heat (as during the treatment), their structure is modified and they immediately contract, making the skin tighter. This effect is noticeable upon completion of the first treatment. With each treatment you will see gradual improvement.
How many sessions are required?
For optimal results, we recommend 6-8 sessions for the face and 8-12 for the body. Do bear in mind that individual results vary.
