Injectable Kaya Hair BTX is a minimally invasive, non-surgical treatment for restoring hair loss due to Androgenetic Alopecia or male pattern baldness. It is not to be confused with a similarly termed popular service offered at hair salons, which is a deep conditioning procedure that involves coating the surface of your hair with a mixture of compounds to help fight frizz and improve the look of dull, damaged hair.
Kaya Hair BTX treatment involves the use of Botulinum Toxin injections— the same compound which is used for skin rejuvenation. The treatment works to decrease alopecia by increasing the blood flow to your hair follicles. The improvement of the level of nutrients in the tissue surrounding your hair follicles leads to regeneration of hair follicles and regrowth of hair. Kaya Hair BTX treatment will help you increase mean hair count and reduce the average size of your bald patch, making it an ideal treatment for Androgenetic Alopecia.
Studies into Androgenetic Alopecia found that ‘scalp tension’ plays a significant role in the progression of balding.
This scalp tension or stretching of the galea muscle reduces the blood supply to the follicles and causes fibrosis of the follicles. The reduced oxygen (hypoxia) also increases the sensitivity of the follicles to the androgens and miniaturises them. Botulinum toxin injected into the scalp muscles reduces the stretch on the galea or scalp tension. The process creates a vasodilator effect on the blood vessels irrigating the scalp by decreasing the tone of the surrounding muscles and/or blocking certain neuromodulators, such as substance P and Calcitonin Gene-Related Peptide which cause Androgenetic Alopecia. Botulinum toxin further relaxes the muscles of the scalp (frontalis, occipitalis, temporalis, périauricular) by reducing the muscular pressure on blood vessels allowing a better flow and better oxygenation of tissues. The entire mechanism works to reduce overall scalp tension and increase the conversion of your testosterone to estradiol, thereby significantly decreasing Alopecia.
At Kaya, our experienced dermatologists will first conduct a detailed consultation. Certain tests may also be administered to assess your hair loss patterns and to indicate best possible treatment areas. During the procedure, our dermatologist will begin by applying a local anaesthetic cream to the treatment areas. After 30-45 minutes, the scalp will be cleaned, and the dermatologist will further mark the treatment areas.
The procedure involves injecting very small intramuscular injections in 30 different sites across the scalp. After the procedure, your dermatologist will clean the treated area and will apply an ointment. You might experience mild discomfort in the treated area post your procedure.
You will start to experience visible results in three to six months’ time. Additionally, you will also experience additional benefits such as an improvement in the quality of your hair and scalp. Apart from boosting hair regrowth and the treatment improves your hair and scalp health and protects from seborrhea, psoriasis, fibrosis, inflammation, dandruff, sebum secretion, miniaturisation of the hair follicle, androgen activity on hair follicle and other scalp conditions.
