Thinning hair can be the source of much angst as the scalp gets progressively more visible. Our treatments retard hair loss, rejuvenate the scalp and regenerate hair.

Every strand grows out of a hair follicle, a tiny saclike structure, which keeps it anchored to the scalp. Around the follicle is a hair bulb which has living cells that reproduce and make new hair cells. These hair cells are at the root of the hair and they build up the hair shaft, making it grow. This hair shaft is the visible part of a strand, made up of dead cells.

Understanding Hair

An average human head has 100,000 strands of hair made of a tough protein- keratin.

Blood vessels in the scalp deliver nutrients to the cells in the hair bulb. These nutrients, along with hormones, determine the hair structure and growth.

What causes hair loss?

It’s perfectly normal to lose around fifty to seventy strands of hair in a day, which barely makes a visible difference in an average adult head which has around a 100,000 strands. This amount of hair fall is normal since every strand of hair is shed at the end of its lifecycle.

The lifecycle of a strand of hair is around six years and goes through three stages- Anagen, Catagen and Telogen. The Anagen stage is the active growth phase where the strand sprouts out of the hair follicle and grows continuously. At any given point in time, roughly ninety percent of the strands are at this stage, which lasts around 2-6 years.

Then comes the Catagen stage, where the strand takes a breather after all the growing. This stage lasts for about one month. Being the transitional phase, hair growth slows down and the hair follicle starts to shrink.

Eventually, during the Telogen stage hair growth stops. The strand gets detached from the follicle and is shed.

This type hair loss is normal and natural. But hair loss due to depleted quality of hair is quite easily avoidable.

Hair, when dry and brittle, thins out due to breakage. Since hair is composed of dead cells, the only natural conditioning that occurs is when the oily sebum secreted by the scalp coats it. Daily hair care with the appropriate shampoos and conditioners, keeps the scalp and hair healthy. Periodic salon treatments, hair spas and deep conditioning also contribute to keeping the hair strong, shiny and smooth. Hair loss due to breakage can be avoided by showering the right care.

However, sometimes even all this care does not keep the scalp from showing through. There is excessive hair loss.

What causes excessive hair loss?

Hair loss on the scalp or baldness, also known as Alopecia, is generally a normal process of ageing but can often start prematurely. In men, male pattern baldness comes with a receding hairline and hair loss at the crown. Whereas female pattern baldness is that of uniform thinning across the scalp.

Dehydrotestosterone (DHT), a naturally-occurring hormone, is considered to be the primary culprit in this kind of hair loss. And blocking DHT is key to stopping hair loss. An improvement in the blood circulation in the area helps reduce hair loss by carrying much needed nutrients to the hair bulbs and follicles.

Introducing Kaya Hair Loss Solutions

Often the root cause of hair loss lies deep down. So Kaya tackles hair loss at its roots with Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy (PRP), Mesotherapy and Carboxy treatments. And starting the treatments with the first signs of hair loss keeps the thinning from advancing.

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy is a rejuvenation therapy which uses the innate healing and regenerative powers of your own blood. Your blood platelets, rich in growth factors, are injected into targeted areas of your scalp to stimulate and accelerate cell regeneration.

Mesotherapy involves the infusion of nutrients deep into the mesodermis in the scalp. If the root cause of the alopecia is hormonal in nature, dehydrotestosterone (DHT) blockers are also injected.

Carboxy Therapy, works by stimulating the hair follicles with more oxygenation, better blood circulation and increased supply of nutrients. These hair follicles get rejuvenated and spur on hair growth.

How Kaya Hair Loss Solutions Work

When PRP therapy is used for hair rejuvenation, the platelets are injected in the area where hair follicles are damaged. The therapy improves blood supply in the region, providing nutrition to hair follicles and inducing hair growth. Growth factors in the platelets promote healing and regeneration of cells.

Mesotherapy is used to tackle hair loss by injecting a tonic containing minerals and vitamins deep into the mesodermis of the scalp. These nutrients replace those which the follicles have ceased to absorb and also stimulate blood circulation, which in turn retards hair loss and rejuvenates hair growth.

If the root cause of the alopecia is hormonal in nature, dehydrotestosterone (DHT) blockers are also injected. The blockers inhibit the production of DHT and the conversion of testosterone into DHT. They also keep the existing DHT from attaching and subsequently damaging the receptors in the hair follicles. When receptors in the hair follicles get damaged, they progressively produce thinner strands of hair, then less hair and finally stop producing any hair at all. That’s why blocking DHT is key to stopping hair loss.

Carboxy Therapy works by stimulating the hair follicles. By injecting measured dosages of carbon dioxide subcutaneously, below the surface of the skin, the red blood cells are induced to rush there, increasing blood circulation in the area. The consequent boost in nutrient supply, stimulates hair growth.

What you can look forward to

With the treatments, nourishment to the hair follicles improves. The strands of hair that grow out of these follicles are thicker, stronger and healthier. Hair shedding, hair loss and even hair breakage will reduce, making the hair thicker (greater density of growth), healthier and more conditioned.
